History: here
Appearance: Handsome face, many scars. Also only has one leg. (here & here.)
Personality: For Badr, the most important thing is his family, and what he treasures the most is his wife Esla and his son Sinbad. They are more important than anything else to him, and he values family bonds very much. As they are his first priority in anything, he is often looked down upon due to the fact that he puts family over country and refuse to return to the battlefront. If he's not at home, he can't support his family at any moment, nor see his wife’s smile or his son's growth. He has sworn to protect his family at the cost of his life, and it is nothing he will ever sway in. He will only ever fight to keep his precious ones safe. Anyone who harms his family in any way is never forgiven, no matter who they may be; even if they are a friend.
The word expatriate is used as an insult in the Partevia Kingdom, and it is a word often thrown at him. He does not care, however, because he would rather be spat at, beaten and called a coward and able to protect his family, rather than being praised as a hero and unable to protect them. He doesn't care about war, he doesn't care about the expansion of his country. War is something that he dislikes greatly, because it rips apart countries, and breaks apart families.
He loves to laugh and smile, and always loves to have fun. It is hard to break his good mood. He loves when people smile, and is a genuinely kind man who would act silly just to cheer up even a stranger. Even if he himself is in pain, he can still smile and laugh, even if it might be strained. Even when he knew that he was leaving his family to never see them again, he still smiled when he asked Sinbad to look after Sin's mother.
He is charismatic and good at choosing his words, even with little thought. Even if he is mostly smiling, he can be serious when the time calls for it, and he is skilled at delivering speeches that can touch the soul of others. His last speech before he was shipped off back to war was what inspired the entire village that him and his family lived in to change completely, and what made it easier for Sinbad to grow up in terms of prejudice and self confidence. He believed that the Partevian nation was delirious and on a road to hell with no return, and that they should stop fighting wars that they would only lose.
There are several things that make him befuddled, such as, most of all really, his son Shinbad and the boy's temper and dedication. Much like Sin, Badr just wants to be helpful and care for the ones that he loves, even if Sinbad's care happen to show in a much more childish way than Badr's “stopping for nothing to protect” personality. He is brave, but not valiant. Had he been valiant, he would not have refused going to battle for his country. But he is self sacrificing, because if it was for the sake of his family, he would let anyone beat him up half to death if it was needed.
Abilities: He's a great fighter and swordsman.
Other: he's only got one leg, so he needs his cane.
SAMPLES
First Person:
[ The video shows a confused man with concern on his face. Half of it, at least. He still has to perfect this part about aim. ]
Uhm, hello? I have been informed that this... item, is supposed to be used for communication, and I wished to see how it worked for myself.
Good afternoon, I believe it is.. [ He murmurs, thoughtfully. And the video shifts so his face is properly visible. ] Yes, the sun shows it is afternoon.
[ And back to his normal tone. ]
I have never seen a place such as this, not even close. It is quite interesting and … odd. Would anyone be able to tell me a little bit about this town, of its history and such?
Third Person:
Badr peers down at the mailbox, confused at what it is supposed to be meant for. He taps it with a finger, lifts the lid an inch and leans over to peer in under it. ”How remarkably odd,” he murmurs, and put his weight more on his cane, as he sways a little on the unfamiliar soil. He lifts the lid further, and blinks rapidly in confusion as it falls open and reveals the insides. There is a folded paper inside of it, and he picks it up. Why was his name written on it? “Very odd..” First it was this house that his name was written to, a person who was supposed to be his wife – like he didn't already had a wife that he wished to get back to so dearly, with no possibility to ever see again – with children that was not his, like his precious Sinbad is, even if he will do his best to care for them all as he feels obliged. But they're not actually his.
And now, this note. What was this town, really? It was nothing like anything he had seen, even in any foreign country. It is most mysterious, is what it is.
